Born in Flemish Belgium but raised in a multicultural part of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, I experienced from an early age how accents, choice of words and expressions can influence people’s perception of both other people and products. I understand that speaking the language of your target audience is vital.
I was encouraged from a young age to learn English, although I admittedly learned the most from simply watching cartoons and series. My love for English literature inspired me to study English at Groningen University, and after obtaining my Master’s degree in 2006, I gained translation experience living in an ashram as a volunteer translating English books about Hindu religion into Dutch. I loved translating and the positive feedback I received, which led me to start accepting work as a professional freelance translator in 2008.
I have translated a wide variety of texts, such as books, technical manuals, brochures, websites, magazine articles, government documents, market research questionnaires, contracts and terms and conditions.
